Capitolwire: Environmental laws a presence in latest batch of signed bills

CapitolwireHARRISBURG (July 21) — Within the bevy of legislation Gov. Ed Rendell signed into law in the weeks following the state budget agreement were several environmental measures.
The four bills do everything from studying Pennsylvania’s greenhouse gas emissions to joining a regional Great Lakes Compact.
The bills “signal a continuation of what has been a decade-long focus on the environment, which has been a very bipartisan effort,” said Erik Arneson, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, R-Delaware.
“Very few of these bills had any sort of partisan rancor attached to them,” Arneson said.
